This video shows an NS local crew getting ready for their days work at Spartanburg's Hayne Yard. Watch as the local crew starts up their 2 Southern engines, a GP30 and B30-7A1. Then they head off into the yard to pick up their train. A few shots of some of the cars in the yard are included. Then, the next shot shows the local freight running by the Amtrak station headed back to Hayne Yard after finishing their assigned work.

  • @SOU5111 no poblem yah I am glad even as a little kid in the 70s and 80s I got in before the mega mergers when I first started going to Atlanta we still had Southern and in later years the merger colors of the NS and the other railroads and growing up here in Texas I got the last of the MKT and MoPac as well as Santa Fe and even at 4 or 5 years old I sort of remember seeing the Rock Island with my dad but MP and MKT were my two Texas roads but I Loved the Southern in Atlanta and CSX merger roads

  • One thing that I missed out was when Southern Railway provided passenger serivce. Sadly, it was discontinued 12 years before I was born.

  • @K4JW Thanks for watching and the nice comment! I miss the Southern too!
