@sekarva That is technically called as "counter point".... and Ilayaraja is one of the very very few persons in Indian music to apply that technique, that too in early 80's.. Try searching for "counter-point" in Wikipedia and you will find this "poomaalaye" to be the ONLY INDIAN song listed there as an example.... Raja RAJA dhaan....
