In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make White Hot Chocolate. This is a hot chocolate drink made from melted white chocolate and scalded milk and blended in a blender. It's fun to make and delicious to drink!

Ingredients (for a 6-oz. serving):

1 rounded ¼ cup measure of white chocolate chips
6 oz. milk

Scald 6 oz. milk in a small pot on the stove over low heat. Do not boil. Meanwhile, place 1 rounded ¼ cup measure of white chocolate chips in the top of a double boiler and melt them, stirring occasionally. Place the scalded milk and the melted white chocolate chips in the glass bowl of a blender. Blend on a high setting, until the white chocolate is incorporated into the milk. Immediately pour into mugs or appropriate serving glasses. This drink is tasty and inviting, with a small layer of foam on top! Cheers! --Betty 

  • Hmmm. Why couldn't you just put it in the hot milk to melt, instead of using the double boiler? Just wondering :)!

  • @queenrei34 That would be fine, if the milk is hot enough to melt it. (You shouldn't boil milk.)

  • I love you betty, you make the best food!

  • and i like your fashionglass :))

  • betty it tried it today.. but i had a problem with the milk i boiled it, is that a problem ?

  • This might come out way better if you use heavy cream with the milk to get it more of a thicker consistency.

  • Thank you, betty. I was searching for a simple white hot chocolate method as I don't like the flavor of anything using other chocolates. I will, however, melt the white chocolate with hot milk. The chocolate shouldn't stick or burn if kept at low heat.

  • i love thorntons hot chocolate. they do great white, brown and toffee hot chocolate :)

  • @bettyskitchen thank you, i did it last night by mixing it with milk chocolate, it was yummy. i have a funny experience with my blenderizer, when i pour in my scald milk, the container has a hole so the liquid went down the machine. anyway, i made new one and use my food processor to blend it. yummy

by the way may i ask here if i don't have cake flour for chiffon cake, all i have for the moment is all purpose flour, is this ok to use? should i be adding some other ingredients to the a.p. flour?
