  • Roland Emmerich has never experienced an alien invasion. Therefore, he couldn't have directed independence day. Flawless logic.

  • If Shakespeare was the uneducated, illiterate non-writer of the works of Shakespeare, how did he get away with what is undoubtedly the greatest piece of identity fraud ever perpetuated?

  • One does not simply prove Shakespeare a Fraud

  • Okay, first of all, this guy's not a scholar. They shouldn't mention his films--2012, jeez-- because that doesn't help his credibility either. A few things-- Shakespeare was educated. He didn't become popular until the 19th century and in his day, he was just another writer. He collaborated with other writers. There's more but it doesn't matter. The movie was stupid and insulting to a legend, end of story.

  • Rebuttal part 2:

    7. Not big at all! HE RETIRED. Not everyone works all their life. Did JK ROWLING not write harry potter because she's not writing at the moment.

    8. He read. Oxford hadn't been to Italy either.

    9. Even if Shakespeare didn’t write Shakespeare, by the time the monument was built (sometime between Shakespeare’s death in 1616 and the publication of the First Folio in 1623), Shakespeare was quite widely known for writing Shakespeare.

    10. Umn..why wouldt he want to give a cheap play?

  • Rebuttal:

    1. We probably can't find them, so what if it's true?

    2. Girls didn't need such skills in that day. They could WATCH the plays though, no one read plays then.

    3. Good for Ben Jonson, Shakespeare's plays had mainstream appeal, upper and lower classes.

    4. Messy writing has little to do with intelligence, I get straight As but have illegible writing.

    5. Probs didn't want to milk his son's death/his life.

    6. He went to school, he can know what tennis is without Uni.

  • @marylilu3

    So.. how is your german?

  • horrible english.

  • Honestly, I think this is a very clever thing to do and I don't know why he gets to slammed for the movie. I loved it. The actors, costumes, everything.... just a really smart, well done movie. And just because he usually brings the world down doesn't mean he shouldn't be allowed to do something else.

  • why would anyone believe a guy who makes such terrible films

  • @engliscwarrior I don't think he knows how this works. He had the burden of proof to prove Shakespeare was NOT the author. Nobody has to prove Shakespeare wrote his own plays.

  • All of these reasons can be easily debunked. The Emmerich guy seems to have an axe to grind. Is he a jew by any chance?
