Yup. L was smarter than all of them! The thing is that no one was found who was as smart as him, but they were trying. The point with Mello and Near is that they couldn't have done it alone. Only working together (however involuntarily). That's explained by the author somewhere, the place of which I don't remember.

This is an awkward thing to say on a D.N. AMV, but I actually think the first Anime I cried while watching was Naruto. In the beg., when I thot Sasuke died, I totally balled. O.o I dnt know y bcuz some part of me knew they cldnt kill him(yet neways lol). But I was like 9 then. For some reason, netime a great char. dies or a super sad part comes up, I cry or at least want 2. They create a setting of emotions so well in Anime, way better than movies. Naruto will always be one of my favorites. ^^

@YouAreMyExeption No. Mello would have to work with Near which we all know he wouldn't do, because of his win-lose additude. It really sucks that L had to die.
