William G. Anderson, D.O., is a Baptist, a surgeon and a leader, but most importantly, a member of the osteopathic medical profession. As past president of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), Dr. Anderson has spent his professional life enhancing, promoting and leading osteopathic medical education and the osteopathic medical profession. In this keynote address given during the AOA's Unified Osteopathic Convention, Dr. Anderson recounts the reasons why he's proud to be a D.O., and challenges other D.O.s and osteopathic medical students to find their own pride in the osteopathic medical profession.

  • "Compassionate Osteopathic care." What does this word really mean besides the joining of the words, compassionate, osteopathic, and care? Does it loose it's meaning when we remove the word osteopathic? If it doesn't, then why are we emphasizing osteopathic? Aren't we just carving a space out of a vacuum here?

  • Good talk but the closing animation was just cooky.

  • Cool. I love OMT. If you understand OMT, you understand the history and why we are separate from MDs. Those who don't do OMT, don't understand and may have issues of esteem and want to merge and dispose of the degree and trade in (trade down?).
