My two fantail goldfish, Corvus and Pisces.

Corvus - Calico
Pisces - Gold

This is a 10 gallon tank with a Top Fin filtration system. I'm going to get a fancier air pump and maybe a better filter within a few weeks.

If the back of the tank looks cloudy, it's because of the damn new tank syndrome. The tank has been set up for two weeks now, but I had to add in some pH buffer chemicals, resulting in the cloudy.. algae, I guess. Yay for twice weekly partial water changes.:]

EDIT: Just in case anyone cares, the calico fish died. Dropsy.
The gold one is still alive, and doing good. I got a plecostamus, a few months ago, and the goldfish ate it. The water is super clean now.

  • Fantastic performance! A natural flow with riveting sound effects. How do they do it? Two fins way up, a box office smash!!

  • @theer1ca Funny, I used to have ph problems too. I use baking soda to keep it stable.

  • Mine just died right now really 

  • Aww, so adorable. :) I have fantail goldfish myself and I just LOVE them! Pet ownership is so rewarding. <3

  • do fantail goldfish look like they are breathing heavily when just staying in one place?

  • @guppygirl322 I think it's because lowered metabolism inherent in a stunted body causes them to live longer. Keeping the fish in cooler water (to an extent) and feeding less would have a similar effect. In almost all organisms, lowered metabolism such as in suspended animation can allow for the prolonging of life. On the contrary, letting a fish grow huge soon will shorten its lifespan for the same reasons, IMO.

  • @eurasianchica Why is that do you think?

  • @guppygirl322 all the long lived fish are stunted. The 45 year old fish that everyone talks about lived in a bowl his whole life. Fish that grow big when young die soon.

  • @guppygirl322 - The fish is still about as big as it was in this video, and yeah, the water's good. Had a problem with pH levels for a while, but I got it sorted out now.

  • @theer1ca For a fantail, 10 gallons is fine, as long as the fish doesn't get too big and you keep an eye on the water paramaters.

  • @guppygirl322 - Getting a 10 gallon tank isn't cruelty. The fish has adequate space and is well taken care of. Now, if I still had 2 fish, I'd see your point.
