This is a quick video to show you how I organize and rename my personal Digital photos. I have a different system for scanned in photos and for photo shoots so I'll post up videos on that later on.

  • Good suggestions in there. I especially like the chronological folder names. I prefer to add metatags instead of renaming the files though. Overall great video, and a good renaming tool comes in handy for many reasons.

    Cheers,

  • @Travelster Thanks Glenn for the feedback and comments I appreciate them. There is a new version of renamer now that has some enhanced functionality I might put out a video review of it as an update so stay tuned. Do you have a video of how you use metatags I would love to know how you use them

    Cheers

  • Jeremy - is there a way to name each photo instead of batch name?

  • @3firepit if you are using a mac all you need to do to rename an individual file is:

    step 1: open the finder

step 2: click on the file

step 3: press the enter(return) key to open the file name to be renamed

step 4: type in any file name you want

step 5: press enter to finish renaming the file

Then you are all done, thanks for taking the time watch my video.

  • Great video, but how would you if you went on a Holiday and wanted to put various dates in one folder?

  • @theuniversalbox when I go on a holiday I file my photos the following way. Let's say I went on a trip to Disney World and I went on August 1st to August 5. I would create a folder for each day with the Disney World name attached to it like the following.

    2011-08-01 Disney World Trip

    2011-08-02 Disney World Trip

    2011-08-03 Disney World Trip

    2011-08-04 Disney World Trip

    2011-08-05 Disney World Trip

Then I file each day's photos in each folder respectively. Thanks for watching my video.
