Comparison between American assault rifle M16A2 and Russian Nikonov's AN-94

The AN-94 assault rifle had been officially adopted by the Russian Army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 1994 as a possible replacement for the venerable Kalashnikov AK-74 series assault rifles. The AN index means "Avtomat Nikonova", or Nikonov Assault rifle. This rifle had been designed by the Gennady Nikonov, a Russian arms designer, at the IZHMASH state factories, during the late 1980s and early 1990s. This rifle, initially known as the ASN prototype, had been developed for and submitted to the Russian Army trial contest, held in the early 1990s. This contest, known under the code name "Abakan" (a small city in Russia), was intended to develop the more effective replacement for the AK-74 assault rifles. The ASN was tested among the many other prototypes and eventually won the trials, and was consequently adopted. At the present time the AN-94 is considered as the "professionals' choice", and is used in limited numbers by the elite forces of the Russian Army, police and Internal Affairs Ministry.

  • the AN94 is so good that almost every country wants to buy......oh wait, no they dont

  • @Doughman824 USA propaganda "AKA 'war movies/games' give people that idea. a soldier is only as good as his willingness to self sacrifice and training, which is why americans will never conquor asia or middle east directly. that's why they purposely throw countries they "liberate". kill the old dictator, create anarchy, new leader emerges, talk to new leader, remind him what happened to the old boss, then take all the country's shit, rinse and repeat

  • @proxynation of coarse.....

btw no point in m16 to AN94 comparison anyway, most ppl with an m16 put their own modifications on it anyway, like upper receiver replacements. check out the HK416 or better the M6A2, same base, far better.

  • @FrankDaTank1218 Because we ended up demolishing south vietnam even though we tried to pacify it. Not only that, but we were forced into countless armed conflicts in South Vietnam. Also, the fact Russians lost their weapons was not why they lost. I'm sure the training of the rebels from american forces had a much larger impact.

  • @MegaBuster777 Don't know what you mean by "flatten South Vietnam. Also, your excuse for Russia losing Afghanistan was because they were incompetent enough to get their weapons stolen?
