At :16 I heard a beep... Sounds like the old WIBC signal for the top of the hour.

Amen to that.

What a great drive by Hornish. In 2003, him and the Panther team single handedly took on the big boys (Ganassi, Penske, AGR) in an underpowered Chevy and nearly took the championship in the final stretch of the season. If Hornish wouldn't have broke in this race, he most likely would have won, and maybe the championship as well if Dixon was a little farther back.
In my opinion, this is American Open Wheel Racing at its best.

They also were running a lot faster with the old 3.5L methanol burning engines. The new cars are quite a bit slower so its more about momentum(less passing). But who can blame IRL for slowing the cars down after Tony Renna's fatal crash and Brack's spectacular crash at 230mph.

...ah the good 'ole days. Multiple engine manufacturer's, multiple chassis manufacturer's, side-by-side racing, Hornish in an Indycar. All elements now seemingly missing in the IndyCar Series.

What a short oval - which average speed on the lap ?
Texas this year (2009) was "unusually" boring. I have never dozed off at any open wheel texas race besides this years.
