The Aztec Massacre Part 5

Historical documentary focusing on the Aztec Empire. Between the 14th and the 16th century, the Aztecs dominated the lands of present-day Mexico, until the arrival of the Spanish brought their world to a sudden end. This film probes the mystery behind 400 dismembered bodies unearthed in the ruins of an Aztec city. Knife cuts and teeth marks on the bones indicate that the victims' flesh was stripped off and eaten. But who were these victims and why did they meet such a terrible fate?

  • us Celts, and this includes the Galician region of what is now Spain, used to eat our enemies hearts and take heads to gain our enemies courage! so no one who descends from Spain can say his ancestors were better than Aztecs! as far as im concerned, the tyrannical mass murdering Romans were worse than any Aztec!

  • suggesting that the Aztecs didn't take the Spanish invasion lightly, and actually fought back and won some victories, hardly suggests that the Aztec were weak. This documentary never suggested the Aztecs were weak, in fact it shows otherwise.

  • This doesn't explain the rest.. What happened to the Aztecs? How did they die and what happened to Cortez if he left them :s

  • I am greatly surprised that these experts apparently haven´t read Bernal Díaz del Castillo´s The Real History of the Conquest of New Spain, where he chronicles human sacrifices in most cities they went through - and cannibalism. He also writes that it wasn´t an easy conquest, quite the opposite - the Aztecs fought hard and bloody battles against them. For crying out loud! READ THE BOOK!! It´s all there - and the bones are proof of Del Castillo´s credibility! Some experts!!

  • does anybody know who is playing on monday night football this week..??.....

  • I haven't seen a documentary so painfully slow in a long time.

  • The Mexica or "Aztecs" would have defeated the Spanish had it not been for the small pox that wiped out the majority of the indigenous population throughout Tenochitlan.

The Spanish won not because they allied with the Tlaxcalans or other indigenous tribes; but because they brought with them the epidemic disease that ultimately led them to victory.

  • Very strange allegation. The chroniclers themselves tell of Spanish being captured and sacrificed after the Noche Triste and during the battle of Tenochtitlan. It isn't particularly "revolutionary".

  • @ssgcampos12 yea I agree with you

  • the aztecs believed that if they ate there victims they would consume there power... the more victims u brought back for ritual purposes the more body parts they could eat not all aztecs had that prevolage tho

  • @mexipacfan the mayas were some what the same as thge aztecs the aztecs adopted some things from them such as the calander or weaponary but when it came to it they were toe to toe not to mention aztecs had better cotton armor and more trained millitary thast y the mayas couldnt rule over them cause of there power and tranning

  • @ccheng21 the only reason y the aztecs lost was not because of th egun powder or armor that spain had but from the desease they brought with them
