YouTube Project:Report Round 2 Submission - Patrick Aviles

The DREAM Act, proposed one year ago in the United States House of Representatives, is a key issue among voters looking towards immigration reform. In this video, we examine the proposed legislation and reflect on one of the Civil Rights movement's iconic figures.

Produced by Patrick Avilés & Robert Knauf for the 2010 YouTube Project:Report Finals in partnership with the Pulitzer Center. Made possible by Sony and Intel.

This video is a semi-finalist in YouTube Project: Report - http://youtube.com/projectreport

  • Great Video, I didn´t knew anything about the Dream Act, this is a very good way of showing to the world the problems that immigrants have in USA. And also, very good job on the video.

  • Great Video, this should already be in place. This shouldn't be called the Dream Act, it should be called the Common Sense Act.

  • Yeah DREAM ACT is DEAD! If you are here illegally start packing your bags...unless you decide to use your current path to LEGAL IMMIGRATION.

  • THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WON TODAY! DREAM ACT IS DEAD!! TIME TO ABOLISH ACLU AND GET RIDE OF PELOSI!! Celebrate American! Today is a good day!

VOTE: 55 NEEDED: 60 Dream Act is Defeated in the Senate today.

  • Save America from military trained gang members and chain migration illegals who are trying to pass afraudulent and disturbing bill..THE DREAM ACT! NO NO NO! Call all politicians MONDAY NO!

  • You've got a lot of homework to do. My playlists are an excellent place for you to start. I recommend these for right now.

    Reconquista 101: Ideology of Hate

    Reconquista 102: Declaration of War

Is this what you want for America? The Mexi-Klan advocates hate, racism and ethnic cleansing. Don't be their toady. Don't be their useful fool.

  • Yes, let's reward people for being here through their parents' criminal acts by handing them college tuition; meanwhile our own kids don't get the same opportunity. Makes sense to me!

What happened to taking care of your own family first, then helping if you can afford it? American kids should be given the same thing. After all, aren't WE the ones who have to pay for it?

  • @itzjustRon There are plenty of people each year who come to our country LEGALLY and can and will contribute so why reward those who disrespect us? Our country get's 1,000,000 + new LEGAL citizens EVERY YEAR! That is more than all of the other countries in the world COMBINED! Those people are immigrants and reflect the attitude and love of this country that this country was built on and that made it great. Illegal aliens are doing nothing but destroying what immigrants have built.

  • @daguywitdaguild I wouldn't want or trust the offspring of an illegal alien in our military since they come from an upbringing who's allegiance is divided. If we were to ever go to war with Mexico do you honestly think that they could pull the trigger? Their love of their 'blood' comes waaay before the love of the country they live in. That's why we have these people marching in our streets waving the Mexican flag and shouting 'Viva Mexico!" That's where their true allegiance is.

  • @DebF321 "glitch in our government"??? If they came here illegally there was no glitch... THEY BROKE THE LAW! Why would or should our country want to make citizens out of people who very obviously have no respect or regard for our country or our laws and have proven it by entering and living here illegally? We have enough of our own criminals... we don't need to import them.

Some key findings of The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on US Taxpayers:

$113B in services & benefits to illegals & their families represent an avg cost of $1,117 / yr to households. Costs are higher in states with large illegal alien populations. ~$84.2B absorbed by state & fed'l gov't.

Education is the largest public expenditure @ $52B which is absorbed mostly by state & fed'l gov't

They don't pay for what they steal from the Americans - esp hospitals

  • Did you know that Mexicans view laws as an "optional guideline?" THAT is why they can't understand why they get punished for breaking it here in America. With that loose view of the law, though, is it any wonder that people who value civilization & Rule Of Law want to keep these filthy, ignorant & obtuse creatures out? We have enough criminals of our own - we don't need any other countries' criminals adding to it! Especially Mexico's!!!
