During Robert Bork's nomination to the Supreme Court under Reagan.

" In the course of any given year, Congress votes on taxes, medical care, military spending, foreign aid, agriculture, labor, international trade, airlines, housing, insurance, courts, natural resources, and much more. There are professionals who have spent their entire adult lives specializing in just one of these fields. They idea that Congress [or the American voter] can be competent in all these areas simultaneously is staggering." - Sowell

"Compared to what? At what cost? What hard evidence do you have?" -Thomas Sowell

  • @sambam2694 You seem to be under the impression that there is one uniform "black people" and that anyone who strays outside of that spectrum is automatically a "brain washed", "uncle tom".

Do you really want black people to all think and act the same way? Does being intelligent or holding a specific political affiliation make less black?

You seem to have a lot of thinking to do, I'll leave you to that.

  • At 4:40 Ted Kennedy is thinking "Gawd, how much longa is this guy gunna tawk? I'd, er uh, kill faw ah drink right now. I'm so thirsty, I, er uh, envy Mary Jo Kopechne right now "

  • Thomas Sowell = UNCLE TOM

  • @elsquibbs Literacy tests were used to specifically target African-American voters after the Civil War. They were still used during through the South to stop African Americans from voting. This is why the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed. This was the first time in 95 years that the Congress acted to implement the Section 2 of the 15th Amendment (ratified in 1870) which states: "The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."

  • @USASecretHistory

I'm sure that exactly what someone like you would think.

  • @lysol5555 Wow, emotional knee jerking how surprising!

  • @nofalltoofar That's because there was no logic to Sowell's statements.

  • Biden: So literacy tests, as long as they're equally applied, are alright.

    Sowell: Sure.

Anyone with any common sense would realize that under slavery it was illegal to teach slaves how to read and/or write. Whites had an advantage over Black people in terms of voting rights. At least Whites had an opportunity to learn how to read and write. Slaves did not. I believe there were about 10 million slaves in the US during the 1800s.

  • @s0beit I want you think about the following phrase: "SATURDAY NIGHT MASSACRE"

    And Sowell approves such behavior.

  • Mr. Kennedy seems to be tired and unwilling to listen... 2:21

  • "I'm just trying to figure out what you're saying." Classic Joe Biden. Can't understand intelligent thoughts. Also, Biden's lame attempts at calling "racism" in the end fail immediately when you consider what Sowell had complained of earlier with primary education failing black students. Then again, asking Biden to recall and process information not immediately spoken in pigeon English is a bit too much for his goldfish-sized intellect.

  • A rarity . . . an honest non-partisan non-biased man.
