I think the voice casting and music score are pretty damn good. Give them a break; it was the 70's and they had a limited budget unlike studios like Disney and Warner Bros.

@MJNSEIFER - She says "How many mice have you killed todasy, Cat?". A male Lions status is defined by his mane - the bigger the mane the more powerful the lion. So, by cutting or shaving off his mane the witch removed his power and so some extent his dignity.
