The Westobou Performance Project took place August 5th 2011 at the corner of Broad and Tenth Streets (Augusta, Georgia) during First Friday as a celebration of the 2011 Westobou Festival ticket launch.

Conceived as a hands-on way for members of the Augusta community to get a performer's-eye view of a professional production, the Project was created, curated and assembled by famed vocalist Niki Haris and Augusta actor Gary Dennis. It featured more than 150 performers, including dancers, a drumline, a string section, vocalists and fire manipulators.

  • @sheznic Quite right Sheznic! It was flash mob for a good portion of its planning life, but things change and it began to be promoted as a performance to support and bring publicity to the Westobou Arts Festival. As performance or as organic mob, it served to underscore the fact that we are our community and we choose what we bring to it. Hope you enjoyed it.

  • Amazing work, Augusta! Congratulations to everyone involved!!!

  • Simply Amazing!
