Exactly what I was looking for! I knew there had to be a better way than making char cloth every time I go out to replace the char being used. We have birch everywhere around me! Thanks a ton! Subscribed!

Excellent post! Thank you! I just bought 40 acres that has birch trees in various places. Not only will this be a good addition to a survival kit, it should make good kindling for my woodburning oven. As long as I use it in small amounts, it should not clog my chimney. Thanks again!

is the fire stick just like a magnesium strip?

@SplinterHawk7 no dude its a Ferrocerium Firesteel. Magnesium has to be scraped off and then hit with a spark. The Ferro Rod works, when steel is scraped off and oxidizes in the air and ignites. Temp. is about 3000 degrees celcius.
