Gary E. Knell is President and CEO of Sesame Workshop and one of the founders of the Joan Ganz Cooney Center. Mr. Knell leads the nonprofit educational organization in its mission to create innovative, engaging content that maximizes the educational power of all media to help children reach their highest potential. He has been instrumental in focusing the organization on Sesame Street's global mission, including groundbreaking co-productions in South Africa, India, Northern Ireland, and Egypt. Although the trend is going away from television, a typical kid's day contains a fair amount of TV. I believe TV should remain a part of the educational process. Too much of the TV programming today is based on emotional and social development. I think more focus should be on autistm since autism is the current pandemic moving hand and hand with typically developing children within the classroom of the 6 - 9 year olds and beyond.
