  • what is that program to speed it up?

  • Most video editing programs allow you to modify clip speed.

  • THIS IS NOT TIME-LAPSE.

    This is just fast forwarding.

Real time-lapse is taking pictures at certain intervals, using a photo camera or video cam.

for example taking a picture every minute for 8 hours.

Using software and a photo or video camera hooked up to the computer.

remember that a normal video camera can never record 8 hours, and imagine all the space that would take on your harddrive even if it could. (1 hour = 10 GB of DV footage)

    It's better to use intervals.

  • @kmotocrossracer A video editing program that allows pictures and videos would be the best to use. Just add some background music, save/render it as a movie file, and watch your masterpiece.

  • can i do this with adobe after effects???

  • how do you take pictures that you have put them all together and make it a slideshow with music?

  • Hi, I may be wrong, but is this not just video sped up to give the impression of ' time lapse'? Time lapse requires multiple frame exposures taken at timed intervals.

  • @inofaith And even if you would have a purpose for 5 to 80 second intervals... the way video cameras record images is very different from SLR cameras.

For instance: long exposure photos (stars photos at night) can take 30 seconds PER PHOTO.

While a video camera shoots 1/25th or 1/30th of a second per photo which is way too short to capture any low-light things.

Also think of the amount of video you would be wasting just to get 1 frame.

Anyway, you could use it.. but to an extend.

  • @catcatttt Hey, yes you COULD do that. But after some calculations I see that there are some limits to this and it only emulates real time-lapse. Basically its still fastforwarding.. (which time-lapse is not by the way).

I always use 12 fps to piece together timelapse photos.

Final Cut Pro can speed up video to max 100.000%.. which means you can speed up video so it looks like 83second intervals. And time-lapse generally goes way beyond that. Like 1 or 2 minute intervals or even 10, 30 or 60

  • @inofaith can i use FCP to just pick a frame every 5 second and then speed it up a bit to create the time-lapse effect?

  • Here's a tip: If you don't have memory for recording such a long time, try setting your alarm clock and taking a picture from the same view for example every hour.
