In discussions of theism, religion, and morals, people often respond to an argument by saying, "Why should I accept your viewpoint? YOU'RE BIASED!!!"

On the surface, this may seems like a compelling counterargument to some... but is it really? Let us examine the logical implications of such a rebuttal.

  • Amen bro, we want a new video!

  • I have the footage for a new video, but I haven't edited it yet. I don't know when I'll have time to do so, but hopefully within a week it'll be done.

  • someone used the bias argument on me and I told him "the fact I am biased towards apples because I think they are delicious does nothing to invalidate my claim that apples grow on trees"

  • This really needed to be brought up. Thanks.

  • This is way oversimplistic. And the poster is indicating his bias in examples while attempting to shaping his argument about bias.

The claim of being "right or wrong" as an absolute is in itself problematic, particularly in terms of faith and morality and even more particularly in projecting that upon others.

  • Excellent video - I very much agree with you that ad-hominem attacks do not have to be an insult or abusive in nature - very well said.

  • I wondered about this subject, well done!:)

  • great video brother everything u said is truth

  • Very excellent. How many times have I heard that line in my homosexual debates...? "I will dismiss anything biblical!"

Well, most homosexual defenders often uses the love thy God-love thy neighbor scriptures at me tying it with tolerance of sin...which is no where in the bible.

Anyway, this is great. I always thought that the whole "your being a bias" was a scape goat method. Glad you pointed it out, sir.

  • Excellent video.

One way I've thought of it: person A has this bias, but *why* do they have this bias? People don't generally pick their biases without reason, unless its economically or emotionally fueled.
