First locking of the tide, two oil barges going to the River Hull, and a larger oil ship, Frigg, heading out to sea.

The first oil barge, Swinderby moves oil from two Cargill sites, one on the River Hull, and the other here in King George Dock. Rix Harrier is the second barge.

Another Rix Barge, Rix Owl is heading up river from Immingham, over taken by the ABP Survey boat Humber Charter.

  • The Barge that left the lock pit 1st is Swinderby isn't it? i use to work on her when she was a crane barge for Hughes Marine, good memories!

  • Thats right. She is now used to take oil from Cargills plant in town to the one here at KGD. She is on her return (empty) run.

I always wondered why she was so wide, and now that you remind me I might even remember her as a crane barge, which would explain the width. Cheers, Mike
