Shortly after 1:30pm on Friday, Jan 9th, Woonsocket, RI FD received multiple calls for a structure fire on Asylum St in the city's Fairmount Section.

Upon arrival, they had heavy fire venting from several windows on the 1st fl extending to the 2nd. After an aggressive interior attack, they were able to get the upper hand on this very cold and windy day and knock down the fire within 1/2 hr.

  • NFPA is not a law its a recomdation i agree there helmets were shot

  • LET THE MEN DO WHAT THEY HAVE TO DO

  • Well, "Keith", "I'm" sorry I didn't know my sentence would be analized. You're telling me not to kill anyone and my comment is the only one listed regarding safety. They should have been wearing an SCBA and that's a fact. Please don't IC any scene.

And regarding being a Captain at 5 years on...yeah, we don't have the luxury of being paid for risking "our" lives. I (we) can guarantee our dept is just as safe and educated and "professional" as any other career dept.

  • your still wet behind the ears guy. a cap at 5 years in the trade. it's never "i" it's always "we" this is the brotherhood this alone shows your experience. please don't kill anyone.

  • First, I'm a grown man and Fire Captain whose been firefighting for 5 years. I fought 4 fires on Sunday alone! They should have had SCBA's on and new helmets since theirs were probably too burnt for NFPA standards.

  • hey kid when you do 5 fires a week you know how to wear your gear

  • those FF at 1:20 should have had their SCBA's on. And their helmet didn't look like they complied with NFPA 1971

  • Great job nice fire.
