Reaaaally helpful! Thanks, I understand the symbolism of the compass and the torch although I'm confused by the relevance of the horse and what happens at the end, if anybody could explain I'd be really grateful! :)

All of the animal and nature imagery in general is used to show the complete ease with which animals relate to each other and their environment- this juxtaposes (greatly contrasts) the human relationships and acts as a subtle guide to us about how natural a father son relationship should be.
