Humperdinck's masterful haunting "Evening Prayer" is such a gorgeous centerpiece of this melodious, lovely opera that only a wonderful voice like Fleming's can sing it so beautifully.

Nach Besuch der Hänsel und Gretel Aufführung in der Deutschen Oper Berlin, wo ich besonders dieses Lied verhunzt fand, habe ich diverse Versionen bei youtube angehört und finde diese hier EINFACH DIE SCHÖNSTE.

I don't think that's the point. If they wanted it to sound like a choir, they wouldn't have featured her as a soloist on the soprano line.
