  • I would say the Zab Judah Amir Khan fight was fixed, Zab claiming he was hit low, and then to claim he didn't hear the refs count, it's a joke really...If someone offers you 10x what you are gona get otherwise, it would be tempting for some people, especially if it's one big last payday, boxers have bills to pay at home, usually have kids etc so you can understand in some ways why they do it, but it ruins the game no end, but I suppose that's the nature of the beast, money talks

  • @LetsTalkSense1

personally, i dont think that fight was fixed, zab has always been mentally weak, always looks for excuses & a way out when things aint going his way- & he has been on the slide for years, the only thing that surprised me about that fight was how many people thought he would win- i said from day 1 zab would lose that fight, his reflexes are shot, they been shot for a long long time

  • I think fixed fights happen. They happen alot more when promoters etc know that people are going to forget about the opponent or not think twice about it so that their fighter can move on to bigger and better things. With the huge fights I don't beleive it happens that much because thers alot more honour at stake.

  • @KASHLAMDA

yeah i agree with that...sometimes fights get stopped early in favour of some up and coming fighters, just incase they get cut or somehow tire in the second half of the fight....that is fixing of a certain type

but the classic meaning- is when a fighter takes a dive, how common do u think that is? or is that what u where referring to anyway?

  • Absolutely!! But intstead of mafiosi and bribes and dives, it's moreso to do with promoters and networks and matchmaking. Guys who are draws are fed opponents that, odds are, will keep them winning and keep them making the right people money. Examples 1A and 1B right now are Alvarez and Chavez Jr.

It's to the point where fans are actually shocked when 2 prime, top guys fight one another.

So if you consider matchmaking part of fixing, then definitely yes. And it hurts the sport.

  • @scorpio11477

excellent points, i agree 100%- were shocked when 2 top guys fight lol, sad but true....it should be the norm but instead we see it as a privilage

  • Garbage Floyd will win easily

  • @HatmanTV Ye I suppose so, looking at the way he acted against Mayweather and other fighters you are probably right...I believe fixing fights does happen, but the purses are quite large now so there is probably less fixing than there used to be a few years ago, but when you have an up and coming fighter, just to avoid any unnecessary cuts or even an upset, the other fighter will be paid off, that's what I think anyway...the bigger the fight, the less chance of it being fixed

  • @HatmanTV Yeah, I meant when the fighter gets paid to take a dive. But what YOU mentioned about fights getting stopped too early to save the young up & coming cashcow happens all the time. It happens so much so, that people think it's part of Boxing now and acceptable. There's no point watching a fight if it keeps getting stopped half way.

  • nice vid hatman, logical analysis without the hyperbole.

  • @HatmanTV ur right, can't ignore the mental aspects. But I don't get it because Haye came of a weak performance against Ruiz, a guy who was not even good enough to be a Klitschko sparring partner because he got KO everytime. Valuev nearly outboxed him and he's the lamest unskillful neanderthal man I've ever seen. Damn, I'm on some hateraid LOL. peace
