André Mathieu (1929-1968) was a french canadian pianist and composer. He is relatively unknown to most people even though he was a complete genius. He was a prodigy. He composed his first piece of music at age of 3 and gave his first recital in Paris at age of 7. Also, this Concerto #4 was composed when he was around 12 years old!

The concerto is played by the great pianist Alain Lefèvre.

  • fantastique.

  • Second movement is up. Look at my channel

  • Just to let you all know, Mathieu didn't finish composing this piece while he was still alive (kind of like Mozart's Requiem). It was re-discovered by Alain Lefevre and others as improvisational records and Mathieu's scattered manuscript that had to be pieced together. A lot of the credit for the resurrection of this amazing concerto goes to Lefevre and G. Bellemare, the head of Orchestra Bella, the publishing company. Without their involvement and dedication this piece wouldn't exist today.

  • Thanks for the info, I didn't know :)

    Pourtant....

  • plutôt Rachmaninoff...

  • Ok.So, as I understand from the two info sources the composer wrote this piece but didn't finished it because of his death, and at the same time, I saw that he started to compos this piece around the age of 12?!?!?! Is this info mean that he died about "teenage" because the birth-dates shows something different?

  • Just discovered Matheiu. As a big Mozart fan, I can say that Mathieu is amazing!

Merci encore !
