  • He won 7 Grade 1 races. I have to put more of them up. The 2nd horse here was brilliant too winning the Breeders Cup Turf

  • To me, Giant's Causeway is the definition of a racehorse. Never worse than 2nd in 13 starts, 11 of them group ones, from 6-10.5 furlongs on dirt and turf. What a horse.

  • Only his daughters inherit his iron heart funnily enough.

  • @BigPetrov Lets not forget the mighty Sadlers Wells either....

  • @BigPetrov Storm Cat is up there but, I'd have Northern Dancer, Mr Prospector, Kingmambo, Galileo, Danehill, Montjeu above Storm Cat as a overall sire. Giants Causeway was a brilliant horse though...

  • @GBeret83 Yes, and his pedigree shows the importance of US breeding in worldwide racing on any surface - his sire, Storm Cat, is possibly the greatest sires of all time, and his dam, Mariah's Storm, was a graded stakes winner in America. Of course, also having THE Iron Horse Secretariat (Triple Crown champion and multiple G1 winner on dirt and grass) in his pedigree can only mean greatness for The Giant.

  • @GBeret83

he also won the irish champion stakes. so yes, he had 7

  • Rank's among the best of the best in European racing, IMO. 2000 and 2001 saw a lot of really brilliant turf horses in Ireland and Great Britain. Giant's Causeway, Sinndar, Sakhee, and Galileo. All fantastic colts of the era.

  • @Briano696969, Giant's Causeway raced in 11 Stakes races in his career. 9 of them were G1 races. 2 of them were G3 races. He won both G3's. He won 6 of 9 G1's, and was 2nd in 3 of his G1's. His 6 G1 win's were: Prix De La Salamandre, St James's Palace, Coral-Eclipse, Juddmonte International, Sussex Stakes, Q.E.II Cup. He ran 2nd in both the English and Irish 2000 Guineas, and the B.C. Classic. He won 1 maiden, and 2 G3's. The Futurity Stakes and the Gladness Stakes. He had 6 G1 wins. Not 7.

  • A great racing champion, and a great sire!! Giant's Causeway is really one of Europe's all time great's. IMO.

  • you just have to admire 2 great horses giving everything - that's why I love the sport

  • Yeah, I love that iron horse. Kalanisi made the mistake of getting close to him and took him on.
