We have very little concept of how gravity or electromagnetism really works... yet scientists will sit there all day and pretend to explain it. All anyone really can do is throw mathematical equations at results gained through observation of the forces, but they have yet to explain why they exist or through what means they really operate.

Great post an' I'm really happy for y'all, and imma let you finish BUT:

We understand the method by which electromagnetism works. We wouldn't necessarily be able to explain it in lay terms to a juggalo, but they are well understood. The test of a theory based on observations is it's ability to predict future observations, and we have this in spades with electromagnetism. EM is the golden child of the four fundamental forces, in terms of our understanding of it.

Science isn't about the answers. Rather, it's about the journey, and so far that journey has produced more human achievements in technology and creativity than any other medium in human history.

If we had never asked the questions, which we continue to try to answer to this day, we would not have had steam engines, electric motors, electronics, medicine, photonics, chemistry, social sciences, and the list goes on and on. We would still be stuck in a feudal era where life expectancy is 40 years.

But that is true for everything.

I guess as long as there isn't anything that we _fully_ understand, we don't need to be that picky though.
