Our homes and businesses face the threat of catastrophic wildfire. We must act swiftly to prevent our community from experiencing another event like the Angora Fire. We have been fortunate to receive limited grant funds to get our Fuels Reduction and Defensible Space Programs started through the 20-person Zephyr Fire Crew. But these grant funds will only last through 2009. Fuels reduction is a long-term, continuous endeavor, not a one-time project. It is up to us as a community to continuously implement and maintain fuels reduction projects. This can only be achieved with a stable, annual funding source that cannot be used for any other purpose!
