  • Ultimately I built up to 8 miles on this course (.67 round trip) with 50 pounds; then the training course was cancelled! Arrrgghh!

Still, an awesome phase of training which set me up for some great heay lifting (well, heavy for me) and to handle the rigors of a heavy travel schedule.

Recently I returned here and doing it with the Vibrams, unweighted. I do four trips for time. Very enjoyable; there's quite a moving meditation quality to it 8-)

  • Beautiful view of the coast - where is this at Bro? I love my Vibrams - most use them for short distance and agility, and have some Nike Frees for anything over 1mile and under 5... Great way to build those stabilizers!!!

  • My unweighted times have improved about two minutes since this was shot but most of my sessions now are weighted and in Merrill hiking boots; on Tuesday it was with 60 pounds. I think I may have put on a pound or two of muscle and my resting pusle hit 45 this morning.

The mission for Saturday will be 70 pounds.

The tracking course for which I am training requires being able to do 4-12 hilly miles a day with 45 pounds for 5 days.

  • Well, I must admit I don't know how to take those things are to be taken into account. I'm sure as hell not buying them. Of course using them on these hike would be neat... watch?v=d7-gjj-Bjyo

  • They appear to be shoes, but like Crafty said they are a second skin, they provide absolutely no support and you are basically walking barefoot but with slightly more protection for the skin of your feet. All of the muscles in your feet that you never use because of modern shoe design are now working the way they were designed to and if you go too far, too fast you can easily injure muscles.
