If food were to become scarce, non-hybrid seeds are going to be the last of your concerns. If you were to be wishing for seeds at all, you'd want the ones hybridized for the greatest drought and disease resistances.
But what are you going to plow with? Tractor or a horse? So diesel or horse feed might be at a premium too. What are you going to water with? So water will be valuable also. And what are you going to defend your crops with? So guns and ammo will be worth something too.
