@MrSpinbad thats a ridiculous comment. i would have agreed with it several years back when shujaat was still finding his bearings. but the last few years he has just blossomed to be the very essence of indian music. in fact i find his style more relaxing than shahidji (as much as i am mad about shahidjis music).there is something in shujaats music which is more freeing.

I never heard of this man until today , what I like about him is how comfortable he is with his instrument ,,, he seems to be so in control so what you you experts in Indian music think of him ? great music ,, wonderful . what is his background ?

It is rude to cut off a Bhavani Mataji raag in the middle. Please post the entire rendition or else let us know how toaccess and purchase the track or CD. I do appreciate the access to evn this much. Thank you.

They can represent anything, from the school you belong to, or simply a form of decoration.
In my case, my teacher hung a long tassel on mine to teach me to keep the sitar still. When it would bounce and shake, I was moving it too much.
My teacher is no longer with me, but I keep the tassel on my sitar to remind me of him. He was more than a teacher, he became a good friend who taught me much.
I still swing my sitar too much, though. Can't help it.
