My Dad passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2008. He was 89 years old. Dad was born in 1919 and lived through the Great Depression, WWII, the civil rights movement. He grew up with no running water, no indoor plumbing, and an outhouse. His Dad owned a grocery store in Lindale, GA and he used to drive a Model T Ford to deliver groceries when he was 9-10 years old. He would have to put a crate on the seat to see over the steering wheel. Dad got married in 1940 and was married for 62 years before my Mom passed away in 2002. He served in WWII in the 101st Airborne, 506 PIR. He was one of the "Band of Brothers" Dad worked for Battey Machinery Company in Rome, GA for over 35 years and was a loyal employee. Dad was the most honorable man I've ever known. He was a devout Christian yet so much more than most. Dad and Mom both NEVER judged people. They just loved everyone. Dad lived his life during an age that will probably never be repeated. Dad lived to see airplanes first start flying all the way to see a man on the Moon. Dad lived to see an amazing technological revolution including things we take for granted everyday- electricity, running water, indoor plumbing, automobiles, planes, etc. He was a wonderful man and I desparately miss him.

His son,

Charles
