  • Watching this I don't think that there was a fight between Willis and the thug, as when he pushes him and he drops his shotgun, Willis can be seen running in that direction, so presumably he just took the gun and ran out, then when the guy heard the van coming he jumped out of the window ;) BTW: Finished Series 1 & the first 2 eps of series 2 ;)

  • @CI5AgentSweeps I think you are right there, Sweeps. It was just a thought as Willis himself wasn't exactly a pushover when it came to getting physical with the bad guys as he showed in the excellent s1 opener The Paradise Set. I liked it when he had fights with the baddies. What did you think of s1 and the first 2 s2 eps on the whole?

  • Looks and sounds like The Sweeney episode Nightmare, I have a signed photo from Don a gentleman.

  • @Voxac100b Like Nightmare, this had a violent action scene near a cafe and the same music which makes it more exciting. People often talk good things about Don. He always wanted this show to be repeated in the '90s before his tragic death and it's about time they released The Paradise Club on DVD - I've heard that too had a bit of The Sweeney about it.

  • @evernetherall Yeah, he was obviously peckish. :)

  • @CI5AgentSweeps

Yah no kiddin'! I love that little detail. George needs his meals, lol. /^_^\\

  • @CI5AgentSweeps Lots of humour in this scene that makes me laugh out loud. That's right, Bulman was ordering the food and even if Derek hadn't gone into the loo, the gunmen would have still struck. When I first watched this, I felt George should have at least wounded Rutter in the arm or something.

  • "You were obviously followed down the motorway, your mistake was in stopping for a wet!"

"We had to stop for petrol anyway,"

"You didn't have to hang about!!"

    Great scene

I think George is being a bit harsh blaming it all on Willis just because he stopped "at the bog" it was Bulman who ordered the food!

  • @CI5AgentSweeps Yep, it is. They were work colleagues back in the '60s, I think. They fell out because Lambie married the woman George was in love with. That's it, George is older (in real life, Henderson was 15 years older than Blanch).

  • When I first saw this ep I wondered why Lambie & Bulman were on such friendly terms (i.e first names, Jack & George) but I learnt in a later episode it's because they went to the same boarding house when they were starting out as coppers. Is that right? Also it's quite interesting how Willis calls Bulman "Chief", even though (at this point in the series) they are the same rank. Maybe it's because George is older :)
