Do these pictures created by people who have had these surgeries look like your expectation of "20/20"?? The doctors measure a very narrow aspect of vision. Don't get this surgery!!!! go to visionsurgeryrehab . c o m /imagegallery . html
Take the spaces out of the web address to see the images. I am trying to save even one person from this nightmare!!! Notice really smart people do their research and don't get this?? Bill Gates wears glasses for crying out loud.

The individual interviewed is not a medical doctor (M.D.), but rather an optometrist(O.D.). Optometrists are losing business because they are no longer giving people prescription glasses, as people are running to do lasik surgery. All M.D's approve Lasik.

Of course the doctors will say its a horrible idea, they're losing money on it. Without laser eye surgery, people will need glasses or contacts - which you normally purchase through the doctor. And over time, your eyes continue to change and therefore your prescription changes too, forcing you to purchase glasses and contacts again and again. Plus they get lost or broken, another reason to have to buy them again and again.

Terrible idea because...?

@thatguy181 Bill Gates wasn't old, 10 years ago in the boom of Lasik.

@thatguy181 No one can give me a good answer as to how lasik compromises my hypermyopia, which I am not interested in doing. That is not even a factor in the whole "20/20" scheme. Show me a person who can see well at night after having had lasik, and does not see starbursts. I have not met one. This is not a "research your doctor issue".

@anotheraka Bill Gates is so old there's no point getting LASIK for him anymore.
If you do your research, get a REAL doctor, not some mall doctor who can do your LASIK for cheap, etc. You're very likely to have a very safe, very rewarding experience with LASIK.
Will it always be safer to just wear glasses? Of course.
Are people likely to suffer negative experiences from LASIK if they properly research the procedure? No they're not.
