  • fuck walking the next day...

  • For all of those dogmatic free weight squat people that keep asking why they are not in these videos. Dorian did the hack squat over the free weight because you can't really train your quads to absolute failure with them. There is just to much glute/hamstring involvement and your respiratory sytem is bound to fail before your quads do anyways.

  • Great performance at the last rep at 1:20.

  • "Come on Chris, get some big hamstrings hanging out your arse"

  • @KKdlReyes the difference is in your goals. for a bodybuilder yes this is true, as you need to isolate each muscle and define them as much as possible, but for a powerlifter the stabilizer muscles won't get enough attention if you're only doing the hack squat obviously.

  • @KKdlReyes truth, also if your a shorter guy say 5'9-5'10 and under u dont really wanna do free weight squat ever cuz it works your core too much and can make you look too blocky on stage. Leg press is ur friend

  • @KKdlReyes WORD TO THIS. Never get the burn in the quads enough before my body goes GTFO!!!!!

  • @KKdlReyes Very True. He also says they never suited his body type, long Legs and narrow hips. I can attest to the long legs thing, I struggle to get good depth because of it.

  • @liahkim737 the next five days....

  • my hamstrings are getting tight watching this.

  • @smashandre I agree with you on that. I love free squats, but being long limbed also my concern is lower back before legs fail. I used to hate hack squat, but I had to train at a different gym for a while that had one and now I love it. It is harder because it does what I want it to do, hit the quads. Also I have very good cardio and muscle endurance, so this means I can rep forever even with heavier weights. I agree though that it is a personal thing, each must find his own balance.

First of all. Credits to dorian. Hes a huge inspiration.

    But..

your respiratory system is not bound to fail before your quads. Maybe for you if your conditioning sux.

Standard squat (feet shoulder with apart) mainly hits the quads. Ofc there are alot of muscle groups that works as well such as: hamstrings, adductors, glutes and erectors. That doesnt mean that you cant train your quads to failure.

Dorian used the hack squat because it worked for him. Case closed.
