  • @clays121 @SCRebelMetalHead1 Finally, I'm asking this also, because I saw the forum post on NotebookReview where a guy (and several others after him) upgraded his processor from that Sempron 3500+ to a Turion x2 TL-50. Haven't done it yet, but I already bought the processor. Needless to say, my laptop is out of warranty now (bought 3 years ago).

  • @clays121 @SCRebelMetalHead1 I have an Aspire 3050-1923. I've been wanting to upgrade it for a time now. So far, I only upgraded the memory to 1GB (adding a 512MB module). Now I have a question. Can I buy a 2GB module and use it together with one of my 512MB modules? Or do I HAVE to buy two 2GB to have more than 2GB?

  • @SCRebelMetalHead1 yeah I know it's 4GB of ram, at the time I made a typo, and if you run Win 7 ultimate 32bit on this machine, windows will only show 2.62GB of usable ram out of 4GB of ram, cause of the 32bit address limit and the reserved system memory. Also I've found flash gets a slight bit worse on this machine with each update, and NetFlix(Silverlight)gets better and better with each update. LOL!

  • @nelizmastr: The Sempron 3500+ IS 64-bit compliant. Every single version of the 3500+ I could find is 64-bit compliant.

  • @clays121: Actually, the memory maxes out to 4 GB of DDR2 SODIMM. . . Each slot can handle a 2 GB stick. I know this from experience.

  • powernow was already included with the base models of the 3000 series LOL.

    this guy is really gay

  • can it play simz 2 on it?

  • I an acer aspire 30501594 i love it

  • I have 3 ACER laptops, 2 Aspire 3050's, and 1 Aspire 5515, and all 3 have fairly easy access doors to the ram on the bottom of the system, no need to flip the motherboard. :-) Acers are nice notebooks, when they have AMD chips in them.

  • It's not an Nvidia chipset in the 3050 it's an AMD/ATI X1100 chipset, You have to go on AMD's website, and download a legacy driver if your running WinXP or Vista, as the new Catalyst drivers will not work correctly. Also like nelizmastr said, your GPU might be dying, but check your Bios settings, and download the ATI legacy driver off AMD's site. Also it might even be your LCD going bad, and not the GPU. Hard to tell without seeing the screen best of luck anyways. :-)
