Originally a Scottish song dating from the 1700s known as The Gypsy Laddie, this version was first recorded in the US in the nineteenth century. Other versions of the song are Raggle Taggle Gypsy, made famous by Planxty, and Seven Yellow Gypsies, as sung by Nic Jones.
