First of all ... it's virtually impossible to project free standing images from a projector unless you can control light wave lengths in a certain way. So to project and image that 5 inches or feet long, the projector must be able to project points of light to that height or point and sustain it. According to our physics, light photon continues to travel outward from its point of projection, unless some other mechanism is used to created that effect.
