Yes, I'm too poor to buy myself the real thing.
7-string guitars are great to play; if you haven't tried 1, I recommend it.
They date back to Vienna late 1800s and got popular in Russia where tuning changed,
to keep a long story short.

ever since the baroque period, during after the lute's heyday, guitars were constructed with from anywhere bt 4 + 10 courses (up to 20 strings). The south americans were big on that as of 1800s and until Spanish purists stuck to their pseudo-flamenco 6-string...and stark tuning.
