This is Session 4 of Seventeen from the DVD Seires on the life of Umar ibn Al Khattab (RA) By Imam Anwar Al awlaki titled "A Man Amongst Men - Hijrah of Umar".

Umar Ibn Al Khattab Radhi Allahu Anhu(May Allah be pleased with him) is the Second Most Closest Companion of Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him after Abu Bark Siddique Radhi Allahu Anhu(May Allah be pleased with him).


The Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him said regarding Umar:

"If there were a Prophet after me verily it would be `Umar."

This is Narrated from `Uqba ibn `Amir by Ahmad and al-Tirmidhi who graded it hasan, and by al-Hakim (3:85) who graded it sahih as confirmed by al-Dhahabi.

This single hadeeth is sufficient to get an Idea of the virtues and caliber of this great human being. The Companions of the prophet Mohammad peace be upon him were a great and best Generation and amongst this best nation, Umar Ibn Al Khattab (RA) was amongst the Best of the Best.

"We are living in tumultuous times, but they are no less tumultuous than the era of Khalifah 'Umar Ibn al-Khattab whose life began in Jahiliyah and ended in the Golden Age of Islam. We can learn much from the history of this second caliph of Islam, who was faced with unprecedented challenges but met them successfully within the framework of Shari'ah and in accordance with the true spirit of Islam.

For those who would be leaders or are leaders, Umar (RA) offers the model of an ideal Muslim leader, one who felt responsible before Allah for the well being of all those under his rile, including his troops, women, infants, non-Muslims, and even animals. Caliph Omar was a "hands-on" leader who kept himself informed and consulted scholars and experts before every major decision.


For the rest of us, his life offers a window into an exciting and important period of Islamic history, and it also reminds of an important lesson, that our strength comes not from wealth or money or status, but from our submission to Allah and our commitment to the path of Islam."

@LifewithAllah Well that's a shame, I listened to a couple of his videos and liked them. I think it's tragic that he was killed without a trial but violence is not right, both from him and NATO.

@DICEMAN60 If you are not from the killers then surely you are not the one that is being accused. We know there are many good americans and many good christians in america and around the world. We dont accuse them nor are we allowed in Islam to falsely accuse any one. You are welcome to study islamic literature and freely ask questions on Islam when ever you need to. I can send a few Islamic links if its ok with you.

@LifewithAllah I do not plan on killing any innocent people ever. I'm sure there are also several Afghans and Iraqis who have committed crimes just as Americans have. I read and listen to literature from all religions. I have an open mind to all religions and their teachings.
