Obama urges closer European ties - 24 July 2008

Barack Obama, the US presidential candidate, has urged closer ties between the US and Europe in a speech to tens of thousands of people in Berlin, the German capital. Obama, speaking in the city's Tiergarten park, said the US had no better partner than Europe and cautioned the allies against turning inward. Nazanine Moshiri reports from Berlin.

i like obama, fair play and all but im at close enough ties with usa as i want to be. that is thousands of miles away from there seeing the odd tourist here and there.

i will think about forming closer bonds with americans when i have done the same with other europeans.

the reson he won't closer tie with the eu countrys is so they can help him and mccane kill more muslims and i'am sure they don't mind doing this because they have been doing this for years.

If Europeans simply 'can't stand' the US with Obama, it will be a vast improvement for the hate that exists with Bush. Who wants to be friends with a bully? You just keep being pulled into fights with them. Jews gave up full European control 60 years ago when they fled Europe for the US, Canada and Israel.

Most leaders here share the bush administrations "values", cheering for obama is just another sad euro way of taking the piss on americans. The same words that fanatic Clinton spoke. The only real candidates aren't getting any coverage because they are independent. Obama is doing a tour of Europe to undermine the unity in the EU and making the worlds number one terrorist state likeable. Like Clinton he will hide behind a veil of liberalism while covertly destroying the world. Better to have that fool McSame, who we know will continue down the path of bankruptcy, than this wolf in sheeps clothing.
