A game that functions well on the mac (I'm using a Mac Mini with 512 MB of RAM, waiting for my 2 Gigs to come in the mail) is Shadowbane. It's been around since 2003 but is constantly updated and can compete with many top games out there.

On the PC I'd try windows movie maker, thats pretty simple or if you want to get fancy, get AVID FREE DV. On the mac I still use imovie for most of my edits and occasionally edit in motion or fcp.

i haven't messed with mo-graph yet, or really play with automator or quicksliver yet, or wcode, or gotten into using the quartz composer yet, i hear thats fun, and i havent really messed with soundtrack or garage band yet
