@emotionmachine Maybe it's just because I'm from New England, but I've never heard an American pronounce the "Found" part. It's always Newfinlin(d). The tendency for Americans in New England, and I think most of the Northeast is to shorten words and make them easier to say. If we could, we'd just call it "N." It's like how Worcester, Massachussetts is pronounced "Woostah," or how Portland, Maine (where Ilive) is "Portlin(d). We eat all T's, D's, and R's at the end of any given word.

but most newfie's pronounce the middle syllable as 'fin'
haha.
-
Yeah, Canadians are almost worse at it.
-
I'm sorry!
I'm not trying to be rude, but I just get offended.
I'm not even in Newfoundland anymore, I'm in BC and I hear so many random pronunciations I just get frustrated.
Thanks for acknowledging it though.

Oh, for the love of god. Its not NEWFINLIND. .__. I live there. Newfoundland. Or maybe even Newfinland. But NOT EVER NewFINLIND.
-
Doesn't matter how it is spelled...it IS pronounced as if it was spelled Newfinland. NOT....New-Found-Land....or...
..New-Found-Lind. Say each word......New......Fin........ Land. Now run it alltogether......Newfinland. And that is how you say, Newfoundland!!!! And don't forget Labrador.....That's the best part!!!! -
emotionmachine.. are you a complete idiot or just half of one? Nowhere in Newfoundland do I see FIN.. shut up.
-
hilly ain't it lol
PLEASE DON'T call it 'New-Fin-Lind'
That rots me. It's NEWFINLAND.
That's how you pronounce it.
Man, people can't even get the pronunciations of provinces in their own country straight.

Yeah, that comment hasn't already been made enough times. Thanks for adding one more to the collection.

Like I replied to the previous person who made the identical comment "Thanks. But too late now. Can't go back and rerecord."

It's "NewfoundLAND", rhymes with "understand".
