i love barre chords...i learnt these chords in 2 weeks........i know it hurts your thumb and make you feel like your hand's gonna fall of or something.......but once you get used to barre chords you'll love them and hate open chords.......i dont like open chords at all coz you can't create muting effect in them...where as barre chords are so much easier to shift and to create muting effect................

Barre chords are the killer for most beginners. I know a ton of friends who just gave up on guitar because of the barre chords.
