Very fun video based on algebra. We focus on the 18th turned up card, though we are dealing out 26, then those cards are put at the bottom. So, we have 26 cards we didn't look at, plus the 18 to get to our chosen card. That makes our card the 44th in the deck.
Then we deal a card with value "w" and 10-w cards on top of it, like wise for card x, y, and z.
So our card is 44 - 4 - (10-w) - (10-x) - (10-y) - (10-z) positions into the deck. This expression reduces to w + x + y + z. Good stuff!
