Thank You for the warning about the pimps.
I had no idea that was what was involved.
Yes they would be angry since the wheelchair
would make then less wages begging.
If I get funding I will do it through a foundation
and have them come to the charity.
Thank You.

@The391956 Sounds like a very noble cause. Ive seen people like this in the streets of Hyderabad. Just a small word of warning though: Many of these people "begging" actually work for a sort-of "pimp" who takes a cut of the earnings (much like the movie Slumdog Millionaire). If you go passing out wheelchairs, you might make some of these despicable "bosses" angry. I would suggest doing it through a foundation where those in need can come to you, rather than the other way around.

I am wondering about food and where food is gotten.
Do they have supper markets? or open markets?
Do they have a Hospital in the area if one gets sick?
It looks so different to the cold freezing place I live
in now. Thats good to hear they are friendly.
I do look western, their is no dought where I come
from. White female of 56.

@The391956 I assume you are looking to move to a bigger city? If so, then you will have no problem finding markets, shopping malls, hospitals everywhere. There is a huge Western influence there and shops of all kinds, both open and closed, that cater to foreigners. If you make the right friends, they will no doubt show you where more local places are for cheaper fare. A good place to start is wikitravel and type in the city you want. It will give you a lot of info.

@The391956 Not to sound sexist, but as a woman, I would suggest trying to stay in well lit areas or traveling with a friend if possible. There is very little violence there, but it does happen, and more often than not, it happens to women. Stay safe.

@The391956 Like I said, I go there for my company and stay at a guest house and we hire drivers. I couldn't tell you how much these things cost because I have never had to purchase them. My suggestion is to go there, make friends (which is usually easy because Indians tend to be very friendly & sociable) and ask the normal prices of non-biased people (those not selling these things to you). This will help you to haggle, which will be pretty much inevitable. Good luck!
