R.E.M., 2 October 85, Complete Show

2 October 1985 - Germany.

R.E.M., from CHRONIC TOWN through FABLES, was the most important thing in my life. They got me through my early adulthood and passages of stark raving reality I might not have survived without them. Their songs said things I couldn't, in my broken state, articulate for myself. For that, I'll always be grateful. This is, I think, R.E.M. at its absolute pinnacle as a live band, without the trappings (and distractions) of mass popularity.

R.E.M.'s third album, "Fables of the Reconstruction," was released on June 10, 1985, and they perform 7 of the 10 songs from that album: Feeling Gravitys Pull, Maps and Legends, Driver 8, Old Man Kensey, Can't Get There from Here, Green Grow the Rushes, Auctioneer (Another Engine).

They play an early, incomplete version of "Fall on Me," which, along with "Hyena," later appeared on their album, "Lifes Rich Pageant." (release date: July 28, 1986)

Never removed REM from my car stereo. Everyone I worked with (out of my car) would have days filled with REM when they rode with me to the assorted buildings we went to all over south florida as high rise window cleaners. It was a wonderful 20 years untill I fell 5 stories off a building ...now I am paralyzed from knees down, but I am alive and kickin'. No fuckin' way I was gonna let that little 60ft fall kill me!!!!! Luv LIFE

17 inch rod from my femur and the metal used stablizing the pelvis(front and back). they had to take all the metal out of the body that when the staph (MRSA) infection took hold. which is the most dangerous thing in the hospitals by far these days.That's all fine. The accident taught me compassion for others and certainly bettered me in the long-run. I really would not change a thing. Wow, that is so strange to admit but I gotta say it's true. I now have empathy for others, thank goodness

I have  to wear feet braces(AFO's) because of the damage to the nerves running out of the spinal cord through the sacrum. Because my sacrum was crushed in the fall as my pelis snapped right in half. Most of the X-ray technicians said the same thing as you, they told me : "You should not be on my table, you should be on the coroners table filled with formaldahyde" of course this was talking to them after my 2-month induced coma while being x-rayed for more operations to remove a 17 inch rod
