Electric Balalaika

Ever since I picked up an acoustic balalaika at a thrift shop, I wanted to make a solid body electric one. I found a few examples of electric balalaikas online that gave me some ideas to get started. The scale is shorter than a normal (prima) balalaika, so it can be classified as piccolo size. The neck is made out of oak and the body is made out of pine. I was thinking the same thing as I was finishing this instrument. Now that the video is done, I don't have a lot of use for an electric balalaika, but you can never have too many electric ukes...

this would be soooo funny in a concert! you would see like three man with strats and les pauls and stuff and beside it you see a guy going crazy on a tiny piece of wood! XD
