if you got high speed internet you should get a roku cable box for your tv. roku is a streaming player. its the size of a hockey puck. roku has over 600 channels and roku keeps adding channels everyday. you only pay for roku once after that its free. there some channels you have to pay for if you want but most are free. go to roku.com to learn more about this device.

Yup,tv sucks,i canceled pay tv a couple years ago and put up an antenna.I think you may have the wrong idea about digital over the air tv,however. The reason i put up a digital antenna is not for entertainment ,it's just so i can get some local news and weather or emergency broadcasts without booting up the computer. If the nuclear power plant down the road blows it's top i want to know which way the winds blowing. This is what broadcast television was original intended for,not entertainment.

you need more views
It used to be about 12 minutes of commercials an hour back in the '80s/early '90s. Nowadays it's about 20 minutes of commercials an hour! For instance, the Saved By The Bell commercial breaks are 4 to 5 minutes long now and a few parts of the episodes are edited out!

@pannoni1 During a recent attempt to watch a news broadcast, I counted the ads. In 30 minutes of viewing - there were honestly 30 ads/commercials. If you take the average length of 30 seconds per commercial, that equals 15 minutes of the 30 spent watching ads. That isn't including the droning ads that often now last a minute or more. It's just not worth paying for. Thanks for your comment and watching.

The digital off air TV. does not work in some areas if you are more then 50 to 60 miles from your local TV. Stations transmiters you might be out of luck cause these new digital signals can be disrupted easly unlike anolog which you could still see even if it is snowy I canceled my HBO subscription cause there was nothing that have not already seen I think the FCC should force cable and satelite carriers to offer services under $ 50.00 a month or to offer customeized channel lineup aka a la cart

I totally agree with the al-a-cart package deal idea. However, I think that people will demand change over the next few years because most of us now have broadband, and we can see things that aren't what corporate America wants to force feed to us, or sell us. The net is creating a new media if people will just stick with it, and not allow the government fat cats to mess it up for us.

Heck, I'm using the internet more than I watch TV. I have a Netflix subscription and love it! I can pick the shows I want to watch and watch it on MY schedule, not a "set" schedule. Hopefully, Netflix will offer a COMPLETE streaming service for its movies and shows so I can just watch the shows with a push of a button than waiting 2-3 days for the DVD to come in the mail. But on the plus side $9 a month for Netflix? can't beat that! MUCH cheaper and MUCH better than CATV or the Dish.

Agreed! I believe the days of forced-fed TV are gone. More and more people are getting bored with the "they choose, we pay" method of TV. Netflix is great. I believe that eventually, they will offer their full library in streaming video because, not only is it faster - but it would save Netflix tons of money which they now have to shell out to replace lost and damaged DVDs.
