Sea Shepherd vessel Ady Gil rammed by Shonan Maru No 2 in Antarctica

On January 6, 2010, Sea Shepherd's fast-intercept catamaran the Ady Gil was rammed by the Japanese whaling fleet's security vessel, the Shonan Maro No 2. The front 8 feet or so of the Ady Gil was sheared off, and one crew member suffered broken ribs. All crew were rescued by the M/V Bob Barker.

This video shows the collision from two angles and was put together from videos released by both Sea Shepherd and the ICR. (videos synchronized by Eric Cheng, head photographer for the 2008-2009 anti-whaling campaign)

@stinkymoran You are either blind or ignorant or stupid. The Captain of the Ady Gil said on TV that they powered forward in an attempt to get away from the hose down. The SM had no intention in hitting the AG, and was never on a collision course until the AG powered into it's path. You really need to look at other videos. What I say has been proven over and over by analysis by many here as well as the courts. AG's legal position was to maintain course and speed, but powered forward. Wake up.

The most basic fact remains, regardless of the fault of the collision, the S.S. had no right being out there in the first place. For years they've been there illegally attacking and harassing the whalers. The S.S. has convictions in at least 3 countries for their crimes and Paul Watson is probably the biggest liar in the environmental movement. @wannatouchmyballsDKz Fail what? The evidence is clear, and yes, both boats could have done most anything different and the collision would not have happened. The last aggressive move was by the AG, and the last move by the Sm was to avoid the collision. The SSCS even stated that the power up, forward was a mistake, and in one of their videos you can hear the captain yell whoa whoa, to Jason who shouldn't have been at the throttle anyway. It was a mistake that caused it.

@JRBeaman Fail.. the japanese vessels even tries to ram the Delta (the 5 meter inflateable boat) And they did ram the ady gil. Even if AG powered up, they had a few hundred meters to get out of the way from the AG. And their vessels are the most manoeuvrable vessels in the world. Which will say they could have steered away after silly 3 meters.
